Rhetorical Analysis

The Dive Photo Guide- http://www.divephotoguide.com/underwater-photography-techniques/

Design: As an amateur underwater photographer, this blog immediately drew me in.  As soon as I opened the website, it was comprehensive and concise. I could move straight to the category that interested me (techniques) out of the options: Techniques, Articles, News, Travel, Galleries, Equipment, Expeditions, Contests, and Events.  Clearly a well established site, they have everything from helpful blogs to gear to photo submission contests and travel opportunities. Even though it is called Dive Photo Guide, the website’s main pages are not weighed down or saturated with pictures.  They are reserved as media visuals in their articles or blogs, and for display in the gallery.  In addition, the language of their writings can reach any level, from open water to divemaster, and they encourage mastery of underwater photography.

Audience: By covering a large audience, the Dive Photo Guide blog allows readers to start at any point they choose, and work up from there.  This blog mostly appeals to love of learning a hobby, encouraging readers to get educated and practice often. However, it is self limiting to an audience that already has experience SCUBA diving.  It appeals to any level of photographer, but not any level of adventurer or diver.  I would recommend this blog for divers who are looking to make the most out of their expeditions and self-made souvenirs.
